Land Surveying IndustryA memorial fund has been setup for a young land surveyor who recently lost his life while on the job. The surveyor, John Crockett, was working on the side of a road in North Tulsa, OK, when he was hit and killed by oncoming traffic this past November. The driver reportedly lost control of her vehicle, and briefly fled the scene until family members told her to return and report the incident.

This is a tragic accident, and we are incredibly sad to see a fellow land surveyor lose his life, especially because he leaves behind two young daughters. The surveyor’s employer has since decided to start a fund for his children, and is asking anyone who is willing and able to make a contribution. If you are interested in supporting this man’s family, you can send donations to RCB Bank, 5000 West Kenosha St, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. Checks should be made payable to “Cianna and Kyra Crockett.”

The community of land surveyors across the country is smaller than you may think, and we are always on the lookout for members and their families in need of help. If you know of any other similar incidents involving land surveyors whether in your town or elsewhere, please share that information with us.

Finally, no matter what type of work you do, we wish you peace and safety while on the job and off. For more news regarding the land surveying industry and those who contribute to it, keep checking back with LaFave White & McGivern LS PC and our blog.
